Big John and I continue to do well on Banks Lake Rainbows as seen in this photo taken Friday. These net pen monsters put up an enormous fight. One such 'bow put up such a fight I thought I had a record fish and asked Captain John to help by chasing him down with the boat. When the fish was finally landed we were suprised that it was only about 16 inches. Then we discovered the fish had been accidentally snagged in the back. Big John was out again on Sunday successfully hooking up with four more Banks Lake beauties! thumbs

Good to see someone is catching them. When I (we) were over that way this last Friday we did not catch squat.

BILL W: nickel-plated pop gear and a worm works; longer and larger stuff, not small willow trolls. and the troutfisherman has some other attractors. it is possible that the more flash attraction you can put out there the better; the water is generally clear enough to see bottom in 9 feet or so, and maybe lotsa flash (and quite possibly the noise made by pop gear flashers) might get their attention from quite a ways away.

we typically drag this stuff 50 to 90 back of the boat, with 60 to 70 being the most common. move along fast enough to keep the gear in the upper part of the water column; if you troll too slow, unless you shorten up your line it may surprise you how deep it will go (we found out by getting snagged on bottom).

i experimented with a pop gear string hooked behind a couple of big ford fenders, and that caught fish too.

can't help but wonder what would happen if a guy pulled an "abe-n-al" rotating salmon flasher as an attractant; i'll bet they've never seen one of those before!

ain't exactly light-gear fishin'.

I heard Big Wally's is using some odd ball dodger and fly combo and fishing it with no weight on the line. Haven't been able to find out which dodger..

So, my 4 wt fly rod won't work... dang... guess I'll be on the dark side...

Banks is a great rainbow lake! I troll crankbaits, Roostertails. Or cast the shoreline for bass with Crankbaits and happen apon a rainbow about every 3-5th fish.
When trolling I don't use flashers. Light line. Near the shoreline.
Most of my fishing is done mid lake.
Most days it is easy to get a limit of these 16-22" eatting machines. I say eatting machines because I have caught more than one that had takin the whole crankbait in the mouth. Both sets of hooks. Talk about work!

We fished along the dam at the south end and along the north wall. Good Luck!
