Anyone have any tips for fishing at Cresent Lake? Heading over for the weekend. Heard they have cutthroats & bows. Is it true all the fish in the lake are native? Thanks.

i drove by there last year to check it out and found that you can not use downriggers. its a deep clear lake so I would rig with spoons and large jigs. the take is one or two per day.
you could always troll flys way back from the boat with some lead core in order to get down. from the regs i believe that you can only use 3 ozs of lead . I have been wanting to go back with the boat but with such restritions I dont know if its worth it. the local store on the lake was not much help for fishing in fact i got the idea they did not like fisherman.

Thanks for the info. How do we know the special rules for lakes not listed in the WDFW regs or in the national parks? I looked in the regs and could not find anything.

Starcraft Tom: I don't know what regs you got that info from but from the State regs it doesn't say anything about fishing in lake Crescent. If the lake that you are interested in fishing is not in the regs you should go to the state wide rules. So the way I read it is that it is open all year around, but I can only keep what the state allows. Now some county's like to put their own rules on some lakes. But those are not listed in the State regs. And the only way to find out about them is to go to the boat launch's to find out. Or if the County's in question list that info on web pages.

P/S I just looked at my map and I noticed that, that lake is in the boundries of Olympic National Park. So that would be a whole new set of rules. That is if that is the Crescent lake that is in question here.

The lake is'nt listed in the regs but is controled by the National Park and you can go to their site to find out all the info you need and if you can't find it there call them.

THey are real sticky on their regs so be informed.

Read the rules at the launch. No down riggers, catch & release, single barbless hook, 2 oz. lineweight min. Followed the rules and caught some nice fish. I didn't expect much from this lake so I was surprised to catch so many. Got a couple about 22-26" and the rest around 12-18" Not sure which breed they were Crescenti, or Beardslee. The big ones looked like cutthroat.
