Anyone have an Eastside lakes report to offer? I find myself with a free Monday and am considering driving over Sunday evening to give it a try. Any suggestions on lakes? Fly fishing of course. Thanks!

Burke with chronies or olive woolly buggers is one of my favorites.

The WDFW reported that Lenice, Merry and Nunnally were all slow on the March 1 opener. Lenore still had a good amount of ice on it (which means it probably won't really get going until late March or early April).

Beda Lake has been a good early season bet that not too many people know about. It kicks out very nice rainbows and is a selective reg. lake - your pontoon boat would do well there.

However - I should caution that reports last year were way down from the previous few years in terms of angler success - and I haven't heard anything yet for this year.

Send me an e-mail if you want some more details on this lake.

I went by Lenore on Saturday afternoon after a very windy day. The wind had died off and couple guys were hammering the Lahontins on Lenore with black ice cream cones w/ white ribs....standard fare for early Lenore fishing.

I've been fishing Omak lake with great success even when windy. Mostly 25-35 fish days . Fish were on bloodworms, but have switched menus to pupa already. Even though the water still 36-37 degrees, the pupa are hatching out like crazy on that lake..

It's a hard lake to learn though. Go with a local if you can. Much of the lakes over 200 feet deep and parts are over 300 feet. Only 3 small shoals worth flyfishing w/chronies early. Later on you can drag muddlers with good effect along most of the shoreline. The bigger Lahontins turn to eating Chubs when the chronies and mayflies have hatched.

I was really surprised how poor the lakes were fishing on the east side last week. Every local I ran into said it was poor everywhere. If you can't believe the locals then who can you believe!......Mike you would enjoy Beda in a pontoon. I think I'll head over with my daughters on a camping/fishing trip on Friday. Quincy Lakes area might be the best bet for the girls.

Fished Lake Lenice on Saturday, March 6th with great success. I am not a flyfisher, and was a little slow on the take down, but I had 25 hits and landed 12 fish. The flyfishers were also catching some fish. Beautiful day. Look forward to hitting it again with a buddy this Saturday.
