My wife and I are looking to take a short break away from life and work and are thinking of a 2-3 day trip to Seattle to play. Will probably spend most of the time in the downtown and waterfront area. Looking for recommendations of area's to look for a hotel to stay at. Just looking for comfortable area within easy drive to most landmark areas..The only area of Seattle I have spent any time is over in the University hospital area so really don't know much else..Any suggestion would be appreciated..Probably doing a Fri-Sun stay.

Kings motel on 5th (the next building over from me) is okay if you don’t mind dealers and Pros working all night...

Hotel Max is pretty damn nice...

Hotel 5 (Ramada) is relatively in expensive and is also located on 5th

Westin …

But, if it were me, I’d stay at the Ace Hotel.

Take in a steak dinner at the Metropolitan Grill. Pricey but worth it. Valet parking out front.

You should stay at the " The Inn at the Market" In the heart of the Pike Place Market. thumbs

As mention, Inn at the Market.
Also the Marqueen on lower Queen Anne.

A good place to check out if you've never been there would be the Ballard Locks. Should be a few late coho in the fish viewing windows as well as boats going through the locks.

Duh! Occupy Seattle. Easy access to the monorail, westlake center, and the Downtown Transit Tunnel. Use those Hotel bucks for a nice sleeping bag and tent from REI located up near Stewart and Denny. You could help change the World!

Avoid the Fairmont.

Crappy old rooms for sky-high price.

The 1000 gets high marks but I haven't been.

Honestly--Seattle sucks.

If you're looking for a weekend to horse around Portland is far more enjoyable, has street cars, and no sales tax.

Getting around Seattle is a bunch of complete bullschitt. There isn't schit for cabs, no streetcars, no subways, and the Metro only works if you know the routes by heart. Plus, the entire mistake of a city is built on a steep hillside.
Settle's great if you like grey, drab crapholes with a populace too cheap (really?? 'nigg@rdly' is censored??) to buy themselves a real transit system and your idea of a good time is looking at over-priced garbage in a smelly, crowded market or wandering around a semi-abandoned world's fairground.

And make sure you stop in Lewis County on your way through for a taste of some true NW culture wink

Is that a "bring your own banjo" event?

Although it has been a while since I have spent time there, my favorite City is built on a number of hills, next to a nice Bay. Just takes thoughtful planning to make it work.

There's the Silver Cloud motel next to the football and baseball stadiums. Pyramid brewery across the street.

A second or third vote for the Westin...

It is spendy but very nice and it is walking distance from everything.

I take my kids for a weekend every year and it is one of their favorite weekend trips- over the beaches, fishing and Portland.

Have fun.
