I just recently moved to South Kitsap area and looking at a map noticed there are a lot of lakes. I just picked up a pontoon boat this winter and am looking forward to taking it out on some of these lakes. Is anyone familiar with the lakes in this area? Any information would be great! Thanks for the help!

hey try fishing tiger lake and spencer lake in mason co,tiger has good population of decent rainbows but spencer has nice hold overs and is planted with triployoid trout . both these lakes seem pretty good, also try going to the washington fish and wildlife and looking under lake stocking in your area.

Almost all the lakes will have trout in them of varying sizes. I love catching some of the wild tout in those lakes. Not a lot of size but a lot of fun.

Wow, too many lakes to list, but like said above most all lakes in the area carry some species of fish.

Mason County- Tiger, mission, mason, spencer, wooten, lenore and I think emerald.

Kitsap County- kitsap lake, long lake, horseshoe, wildcat, lake tahuya & lake symington.

All of these lakes are basically trout, however, mason, spencer, kitsap and long hold some bass as well, but I'll be damned if I can catch any... I believe lake symington still holds a few salmon now and then as its fish ladder runs into big beef creek that flows into the canal near seabeck. Give these a shot, should get you started in the right directions and make sure to check the regs and keep the public boat launches clean as I live on a fishing lake and it really pisses me off when people leave trash around.
Oh yeah, fishing gets tough in these parts on most lakes as the skiers and wakeboarders take over (I'm guilty of that) in summer so its usually a dawn and dusk show.

Good luck & welcome to the area!
Drew

If you fly fish, try Cady Lake. There are trout in there up to 30 inches and 10 pounds but the everage seems to be around 14-18. Just fished there today and caught a 18-19 inch cutt. The lake has lots of fish in it due to the fact that it is very well managed and is fly fishing only and CnR. Please remember to leave a donation when you launch as most of the fish in the lake are planted and managed by the the Cady Lake Manor B&B and fish aren't cheep.

When I went to Cady I felt like I was in church. There were 4 others fishing the lake and the silence was unbelievable. What a great, peaceful lake. Too bad it's an almost 2 hr drive for me.

What kind of fishing are you going to do, i.e. fly, spin etc. I have fished just about every lake, beaver pond, creek, river in the North Mason area and know it well. If you have a specific type of fishing or a species targeted shoot me an e-mail and I can probably help you out. Tight lines, Ron.

Its almost surreal when you've fished in silence the whole afternoon and suddenly you hear some Roger Whittaker, or a classic Bethoven drifting across the lake. Larry usually puts on some dinner music for his guests around dusk. Makes for a nice atmosphere.

And yes, by all means toss a couple of bucks in the donation bin. Larry uses ALL donation money to restock and for upkeep of the lake and non B&B facilities. He does a great service for the fly fishing community, most of the expenses come out of his own pocket. Its a great bargain for the public. A couple bucks is not much to ask of every one who uses the lake. Cheaper than a movie.

Are any of the streams/rivers around Kitsap and Mason County good for fishing?

I would like to just let you know that Lake Tahuya is a private lake with know access. I know this because I live on the lake. FYI
