Well I guess the post about game pamphlets was a bust.

How about a chance of winning life time fishing and hunting licenses for life lottery?

State figures a lottery of $6.50 per year, 4 drawings per year, they can raise some much needed money. Definately going to try. Thought I'd let you all in on something I found out just recently.

All part of the "if you don't have the Internet your out-a-luck " wink

If you go the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife you'll see a link to the new Online License Sales. In there it explains the new lottery they have. Below I copied what it's all about smile You can't win if you don't play.

Application Numbers For Lifetime Hunting & Fishing Privileges Now Available! Application numbers for the new Lifetime Hunting and Fishing packages are available over the Internet or at a license dealer near you. Application numbers for residents cost $6.50, non-resident application numbers are $12.50. Each application is good for 365 days or until selected, whichever comes first.

When are the drawings?

The first four drawings are scheduled for June 1, 2004; September 30, 2004; December 30, 2004; and March 31, 2005. Application numbers purchased between January 1st and March 31st of 2004 are eligible for drawings held through March 31, 2005.

What happens if my number is selected?

If a number you purchased is selected, you will be notified by certified mail. Once you've signed for the letter, you'll have fifteen days to claim your permanent annual privileges at a WDFW office. You may transfer these privileges to another individual when you claim them, if you wish.

As a holder of lifetime privileges, you qualify for all base licenses. You would be eligible to receive an annual combination fishing license, a big game combination license (deer, elk, bear and cougar), a vehicle use permit, and a small game license, including one turkey tag, a Western Pheasant Permit, and a migratory bird validation. If you know you won't be hunting cougar or bear this year, your license packet can be adjusted without limiting your privileges in future years. You will be listed in the WILD system as a lifetime privilege holder, so you may initially claim only a fishing or hunting license, and add the other privileges in later, as you plan your recreational activities. Your base licenses will be renewed annually at your request, at any WDFW license dealer, for the rest of your life - at no charge!

It's a good idea, but why should I buy a lottery ticket for this as a 60% or greater Disabled Vet the state aleady gives me and other Veterans a free Hunting and Fishing License. The only problem I see with this is it's not really Free as there is 50 cent Dealer Fee for each license every year.

This is another case were Word Free doesn't necessarily mean Free as there is a Fee attached Free.

Well next year as I will be 70 my license will be under that lottery amount so why would I want to worry about a life time of free fishing when I won't be around that long to enjoy it. what

For some it probably doesn't make sense if you already spend under that amount of course. But it can be transferred to anyone of your choosing at the time of winning. A person could give to a kid or grandkid, what a gift that would make.

For me at 42, I spend $78 a year to fish and hunt so it's worth the chance.
