Murder in Humptulips, woman at Harborview, man arrested
Sunday, November 6, 2011 - 00:11

A 31-year-old Aberdeen man is in custody on suspicion of the murder of an elderly man in Humptulips. Authorities say the man is also responsible for serious injuries to an elderly woman also found at the scene Saturday.

Deputies responded to a call about a potential homicide Saturday afternoon and discovered the deceased man outside his home and the woman inside, Grays Harbor County Undersheriff Rick Scott said.

The woman suffered serious head injuries, Scott said. "We believe (the suspect) is also responsible for (the injuries to) the elderly woman."

Last night, investigators were still at the scene and Scott declined to comment further on either the circumstances of the crime or the arrest. He said a full report would be issued in the coming days.

The woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center Saturday night and was listed in critical condition.

weird because yesterday as we drove through Copalis Crossing, I remembered the January 20 1988 murder robbery of an elderly couple named Shye at Copalis Crossing just after you cross the bridge going west.

wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was one of the junkies that live in the woods around the park and ride there.

MONTESANO, Wash. - Prosecutors say a man shot and killed an elderly Humputlips man with a crossbow, then attacked the man's wife with an hatchet.

John Chase is charged with 2nd degree murder. He could face another murder charge if the woman dies. She is in critical condition at Harborview’s Intensive Care Unit.

Ralph Aldrich, 88, and his wife June, 83, were attacked on Friday night.

According to police, Chase was living in the woods in Grays Harbor County last week. When he came across the Aldrichs, he shot and killed Ralph in the yard and attacked June in the house and left her for dead.

Chase stole their truck and drove it to a friend’s house in Hoquiam. He allegedly told the friend he had “killed two demons” and stolen their truck.

Police came and took him to the hospital. The friend learned the truck was owned by a couple in Humptulips. When he drove the truck out there he found Ralph dead in the yard.

When police arrived there later, they found June still alive in the house, approximately 18 hours after the attack.

Chase is held on $750,000 bail.

"killed two demons"

WTF--killed two people in their 80's that have probably been married for 50 some years and lived there in peace. Their lives end like that.

He's the demon and deserves to die, but an insanity plea will likely save his ass.

It is unfortunate that we no longer draw and quarter MF's like this. That would be a truly gruesome way to go. Just think, if we did it more often, it would only be cruel not unusual therefore acceptable.

Can you imagine a jury of his closest peers. Going into the woods to round up 12 of those freaks might be good sport.
