(I don't check these forums often, so scroll down for my cell # to call or text. Also, don't bother me with requests for pics. He's a well formed young black lab. Really interested parties will make time to visit, and a pic ain't gonna change his qualities.)
Bird hunters,
I have to rehome my 18 month old black lab, Oliver.
He is super birdy, and has a great nose.
He works close, and is an awesome family dog.
He's smart, and healthy, and up to date on shots etc.
He's a good boy, loving and needing love.
He swims and retrieves of course, but not as well as my older lab, and that's just because we don't get Olly out enough.
Ideally, he'd go to a person or family who can give him the attention he deserves. We are just too busy for him, and he needs to hunt and hike and go for boat rides. Also, he's lived with our old Lab who is 11. Olly would go well with your older dogs, and kids.
He's lived with us since a pup, and is well trained for the general stuff (sit, come, stay, etc.), but is not trained to gunfire yet.
Besides our busy lives, Olly killed about 50 chickens and ducks, so that's the main reason we're rehoming him. I didn't want to punish him on birds in case it impaired his hunting instinct, which is amazingly strong!
I don't have his papers, but he is intact. He came from a "$5,000 sire" in New Mexico. My dad's hunting buddy's Lab was the sire, and Oliver is the pick of that litter. I can put you in contact with the sire's owner in case you want to track down papers.
I have about $500 into Olly, and that's where I'd start negotiations. Cash or trade, but the important thing is the family he'd be going to, and I'd come down some for the right situation.
I hate to do this, and the kids had their cry out, but this is best for this cool dog, as long as you hunt often, and give him lots of love.
