I'll make a deal with ya, DBA...tell me something nice about Newt, and I'll say it I can't think of many, other than the fact that he's a helluva lot smarter than the rest of the dismal Republican field, but probably a helluva worse person than most, or all of them, too. Fish on... Todd

Fish on... Todd Here's the brain teaser of the day: give me the name of a politician who isn't a POS or a dirt bag or tied to "big something". They all are. Newt is too smart for his own good and it takes him way to long to answer a question, not to mention that his closet is pretty full of skeletons. However, in a true, unscripted debate he would shred Obama. Newt isn't electable, Cain doesn't have a clue about foreign policy, Bachman is done, Ron Paul has his nice little following but he's nuts too, and Perry has already blown it. Romney is laying low letting the rest implode on their own and he will end up winning the nomination. Romney is the guy who Obama doesn't want to run against because he has a much better handle on economics, is passable on foreign policy, and is mild enough to get the independents. The Dems don't take shots at the other candidates but they do fire off at Romney from time to time.

I'll give ya part of all that DB... but there's one glaring flaw to your analysis.
Romney cannot seem to get above 25% with Republican primary voters... no matter who implodes or how much he panders.
So... if he can only convince 25% of his OWN party faithful to vote for him... how's he gonna convince all the Democrats and independents... especially with all of the sucking up to the Tea Party that he's been doing as of late.
Face it my friend... another Obama term is lookin' pretty inevitable right about now.

Romney's been the guy from Day 1...that's why it was so laughable when Cain said the "Big Democratic Machine" was smearing him...hell, Herm, they'd LOVE to have you as the nominee, they're your number one fan!
Fish on...
Todd
P.S. Newt is not a bad debator, but the POTUS isn't bad, either...he'll make hay with Romney, not that most anyone will care.

Face it my friend... another Obama term is lookin' pretty inevitable right about now. There's a small problem there in that analysis: There hasn't been a primary yet, those are all poll numbers and they don't mean a thing. If they did, we would have had a Clinton/Guianni match up 3 years ago. Last time around, Guianni was the guy to beat, then there was Fred Thompson, Huckabee got hot and in the end it was McCain. BTW, he doesn't have to convince the Dems of anything, they aren't gonna vote him in anyway. He just has to get the R's and the Ind, which won't be too hard since the economy will still be in the tank 12 months from now since no one in DC has a clue about how to turn it loose in the first place. BTW, that betting site that KK likes has Obama at 50/50 to get re-elected.

I suspect a few things...
1. Romney will be the nominee
2. Even though he's a flip flopping pro life cultist, the R's will vote for him because he has an "R" after his name on the ballot.
3. The Indies will look at Obama and Romney...and will split. But I think Obama will get more of them.
End of story.

Todd Maybe you're right. However, Obama doesn't have one thing this time around to help get him elected. All he had to do last time was blame George Bush for everything, that won't fly this time. He will have had the job for 4 years, 2 of which he had Congress. He can try the blame game but it won't work.

I might just have to make a double or nothing bet with ya on that next October Hank. He can try the blame game but it won't work. I dunno DB... a blitz campaign of TV ads featuring Mitch McConnell saying that the Republicans ONLY mission is to make Obama a 1 term prez will be a VERY convincing "blame" game. At least to reasonable independents who are the ones that will decide the election anyway.

Double or nothin' that he'll beat Obama in the general.
And perhaps a side bet on the makeup of Congress.

And perhaps a side bet on the makeup of Congress. You want to bet Romney will beat Obama in the general? I must have misunderstood that. I really don't know right now if Romney will beat him, so that's not a bet...yet. I'll let you know how I feel around July; just as in '10. As for the makeup of congress, we can do that any time you want. 4Salt, I wouldn't take Hanks word at anything, seeing as he didn't hold up his part of our gentleman's agreement. Only safe bet there is he will renege on this one. Fishy

Here's the brain teaser of the day: give me the name of a politician who isn't a POS or a dirt bag or tied to "big something". Jesse Ventura. Although he's retired from politics.

If Romney is the candidate many RRWJs will have a huge headache. After all, he does believe in man cause global warming, evolution and most science. At least he did yesterday.

Romney will "believe" whatever his dipshit followers tell him to believe once he gets the nomination...and his dipshit followers won't mind that he has no actual convictions of his own, so long as he has that "R" after his name on the ballot.
Fish on...
