I was reading posts on washingtonlakes.com about sockeye and came across a report that someone caught a walleye in the lake. Can this be verified? Has anyone else caught one?
Just wondering.

never heard of walleye in the lake. We caught a tench about 6 pounds sockeye fishing in the 70's. Wdfw guy told us they planted them in the 30's.

Don't know about the walleye, but that is a nice avatar F F F. Bull trout, huh?

Thanx, no it's a Mackinaw. Looks a little like a bull huh.

In the late '80's I caught a walleye casting a rooster tail to where the old bridge section was achored off of Renton. A friend of mine has a picture of one he caught while smallmouth fishing by the UW. That one was also a good decade ago or more. I haven't seen or heard of one since although both of these fish where released.

Oh right. After I posted, I noticed the rod holder and your boat so I figured you were out fishing on a lake. So most likely it was a Mackinaw.

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks Brood. I guess a picture pretty much proves it. And like perch, walleye are survivors so i am pretty sure there are some numbers in the lake. And probably the migration pattern has prevented the consistant catching of them.
You would still think, with all the perch fishers, that there would be more reported.

Yep-there's still a few Bugeye in the Big Lake. That's the third one I've seen.

Yes, a walleye was caught during a recent scientific gill netting on Lake WA.
