Anyone de-ice their running boards?

26 degrees out this morning and I almost tweaked my back again getting into the truck. The running boards become shear ice. Anyone had any luck with a de-icer that doesn't destroy rubber or chrome?

Never thaught about it but then again my running boards fold up under the truck once the door is shut so not to much worry about ice

I have a garage to park in, but my buddy has a couple towels and he just lays them on his running boards after he parks his truck in the evening.
Simple solution.

The boat goes in the garage. I suppose anything sprayed on would have to be sticky in order to last and then it would get tracked into the truck. I thought about towels but was hoping to avoid the trailer trash look. Might have to resort to them though. Heated running boards would be cool and over the top.

It's like a rock slider for geezers I wouldn't spray any crap on them....glycol's kinda slick anyway. I would look at using a piece of visqueen (or similar) and close it in the door (over the threshold) and keep it covered overnight. You could also roll and staple a length of 1x2 at the bottom for weight.

Go with a tubular style running board and plumb your exhaust through them. Remote start would be nice. 1. Automatic de-icing 2. Cool meter gets pegged 3. Yeeouch ! If you forget There you go, you got the low tech and the high tech. Take your pick.
