Anyone getting geared up for the March 1st Lake Lenice opener? I am looking forward to taking the pontoon boat in and watching the trout slam my plug.

I'll be hitting it again this year. I go later in the year, way too many people for the first opening weekends. One year the first weekend of the lake being open I counted 83 vehicles at the parking lot. That's a lot of people

What sort of plug do you use (flat fish? Hot shot?) and how do you rig the hook to fit the single barbless rules? I think that rule limits the gap size too, right?

I use both tiny hot shots and tiny flatfish. I take off the treble and put on a small barbless siwash. They absolutely slam the little plugs and with light line 4lb test, it is like fighting a steelie in my 4.5 ft rod.

The snakes will not be out yet, thats the best part. I had a friend get hit by one in May, years ago, he was a very sick man by the time we got him back to Eberg.

When I was over there camping last week, the weather was perfect, no snakes, no ticks, no mosquitoes. Plenty of fish

PhishPhreak, on Lenore we just slam them with size 60 and 70 hot shots in the perch, frog, or trout pattern. Take the trebble off, and add a split ring and put on a siwash.
