I'm planning to head over by Quincy tomorrow, so this might be a bit late to post. Reading through the WDFW Weekener report they said many of the lakes still had ice. That report was written 10 days ago, so I'm hoping that all the ice is off. I'm thinking maybe Martha or the Quincy Wildlife area lakes. Anyone have some up to date info. on lake conditions? Thanks

Caliche was classed as "hot" in this morning's newspaper.

Lakes will be open and packed with people, great weather will bring them out. Based on my fishing last year Caliche was a bust, a few larger trout but that was about it.

Burke and Quincy had lots of trout 10-12 inchers. The perch have really taken a hold in Burke, size has diminished over the last 3 years. Caught hundreds of 3-4 inchers. Try small spoons real slow at Burke and you will catch a lot of trout. Red and White striped old stand-by was the ticket last year.

Martha was ok but fishes out quickly.

Perch at the Winchester wasteway North of I-90 is a good bet with the warmer weather also.

Good Luck, I'll be over that area early Saturday laugh

If you didn't catch my report I ended up going to Martha Lake near George. Fishing was slow, but I did pick up one nice 23 incher and 4, 12-14 inch. Talking to some locals they said the ice went off about 3 days before the opener. There was some ice near where I camped and some drifted snow, so the water is a bit chilly. The weather was so sunny and warm, that I enjoyed just sitting and relaxing. I did get out for a few hours on Friday and stopped by Beda Lake to see how that was fishing. I wish I had taken my pontoon along and gone there. Not hot, but a few nice fish were being caught. One guy showed me a nice 5-6 lb he kept that he was going to have mounted. I also stopped by Caliche Lakes and they were a bit slow, but a few were being caught. It's too bad the Quincy lakes are infested with junk fish again. Wasn't long ago that they were killed off. Doubt the WDFW will want to invest money in those lakes anytime soon.
