The answer is "yes"...and rapidly...and half of those who will be in the gigantic lower class are still voting for the people and policies that want it to be that way.

You sure about that ? Isn't Europe an example of the end game for the tax and spend policies?

It'll get worse there still...as it will here if we don't stop killing the middle class.

If things keep going the direction we're headed, I wonder what 99% of the ones voting for this to happen will say when they discover that they, too, are part of the "not middle class anymore"...
They'll blame it on someone else, as usual, I'd imagine.

I can tell you this: If you sit around waiting for WA DC, or Olympia, or the local government to do something to improve your life, you will die before it happens. Doesn't matter who is running the show. The interview with the guy in Ill. who lives with his mother is very similar to my life over the previous 10 years. (I don't live with my mother though ) Since I too am part of the real estate industry and have been for the previous 13 years, the first lesson I learned care of NY Atty Gen Cuomo, WAMU, and FNMA was your livelihood can be affected virtually overnight and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it. So you can either sit home and wonder what is going to happen or you get off your butt and make something happen. I had hoped that the Dodd/Frank bill would correct some of the previous agreement's shortsightedness but once again government came up short. You better have a plan and be able to amend the plan so that you can keep moving forward. Getting pregnant at 18 isn't a very effective plan BTW.

Were past the point of no return, 15 trillion in debt and we can barely agree to cut 1.2 trillion over 10 years. Really sad. Roll the tax code back to the Clinton era, you know when we had a budget surplus, and see what happens, oh ya, put the capital gains tax back the way it was.

If you know these guys, and know for fact they are defrauding the state, then aren't you equally culpable by not reporting them? If we as citizens don't police ourselves, we're part of the problem.

The facts are undeniable, the gap between those who have and don't have are growing at an unaccaptable pace. What this country needs is a systematic change. Lets take health care for example. The U.S. is number 1 in cost, but 37th in the world in terms of effectiveness of care. Why is that allowed to go on? If you were in business and your costs were the most expensive of any like business, but your share of the market was ranked at 37th, wouldn't you do something about that? Hell you would have already been out of business.
The problem is our system. Insurance companies lobby and spend money on our politicians to keep the current system intact so as not to introduce any kind of competion. Big unions like the current system because of the benefits they are able to negotiate.
This is just an example of a system that is totally Fd. We have so many others. Americans should be screaming by now, but they aren't. They are happy to live in the propaganda of both parties.
Absolutely ridiculous!

Ok Hank, then everything is ok? Interesting that the cities you list are the most expensive to live in. Move my house and landscape down to the Bay area and I have a million dollar house. My Step son's house near Oakland is a piece of crap and he paid 600,000 for it. Up here it wouldn't fetch much over 100K.
Throw in that cost of housing; the higher gas prices; the cost of medical insurance; the cost to insure a car and I would say those people are not tripping off to the Riveria every year. People are losing ground and losing it fast.
Hank, I respect your opinions on this board; but come on, that is as weak an arguement as saying the poor shouldn't breed (well maybe not that weak)

Todd Absolutely. It's been the aim of big business and churches to have throngs of ignorant, superstitious, unwashed masses ready to accept any chunk of moldy bread and be thankful for it since the the Industrial Age's infancy. The first thing the merchant class set about doing after they supplanted the nobility and the church during the Age of Reason was to return to the old feudal system with themselves on top.

How many of the grads today are looking forward to producing a marketable widget? How many grads are looking forward instead to working for a government agency?
Government produces what that is marketable?
I see no indication that Robin Hood is coming.
Do you?
