Looking for a Remington 700, Stainless in a few different caliber possibilities.

Can be a .270, 30-06, 300 Win Mag or .300 Ultra Mag.

Basically just needs to be one of these that is a long action. I'd also like to have a hinged floor plate, no detachable mag style. Condition of barrel exterior isn't critical since I am putting custom barrel on it.

Let me know what you have, I'd appreciate it.

If you're lookin' for a 700 SS donor, there are 0.473 and 0.532 bolt face choices in addition to those you've listed. Unless you like playin' 5 card stud with just 2 cards.... wink

Christensen Arms said they can open up the bolt faces to make work.

Did I misunderstand them?

End result is going to be a 300 Ultra Mag. I had them do my 300 Win Mag a few years ago and end result was a 300 Ultra Mag.

I'd try and stay with the right bolt face rather than have it opened up.

In which I'd be lookin' for a .532 like a 7mm mag, 300 win mag, .338, etc.

Thrasher---Do you reload? If not take a look at the prices of 300UM ammo. My pard just sold his 700ss 300UM because, even though he reloads the availabilty of ammo has waned and he was worried that eventually it might become tough to find.

Remington has never been very good at new calibers taking off. Tryfinding SAUM ammo anymore....it was eclipsed by the WSM line and is now "virtually" obsolete.

In either case it's a heck of a round and I wish you the best with your build.

For my Dad...wants it for elk and moose. He has several others that will work "fine" ie Tikka T3 300 Win Mag, Model 70 Pre 64 300 H&H or his Weatherby Mark V 300, but I think he just wants it...just because he's always wanted a Christensen piece.

He's torn whether to have it built with a 24 or 26" barrel. Adding the titanium muzzle break will put it to 26 or 28" and 28" seems a bit long, in my opinion. Mine is a 24" then 26" with the break and I love it.

After decades of packing a 7RM, I've been going the opposite direction for a number of good reasons. Improved terminal performance of lighter laser beams being one. The 300 RUM is a serious hammer at either end, even with a brake. Just ask the guys shooting 6 stations to the left and right of your pappy when he uncorks that braked beast... after they pick up their hats. wink

Case head stamp is a mere means to an end. There are more efficient ballistics in things 0.284, and smaller, that'll effortlessly anchor elk and moose, sans the inevitable flinch of tripping the trigger and packing same all day long....

I have a Remington 700 MTN LSS in 270 Win. Top condition. Has had some modification done. I had all the SS parts teflon matte black finish coated. (I am not a fan of the SS look) Same place the US Marines get their sniper rifles done. I had a trigger job done with 3# pull and no creep. I had Leopold rings and bases teflon coated at the same time to match. It has a Leopold 3-9 matte black on it.
There is no SS visible. The gun is in the original stock, brown laminated with back forend cap. The gun has been cased and only traveled to Sask. Canada and taken 1 deer.
Its a tack driver. I used to handload and had a hunting load going at just under 3100 fps with a Nosler partition 130gr. It would group 1 inch or less. I would say only about 100 rounds have gone down range in this gun.
