Would anyone be willing to educate me on how, when, where and what to use to fish Lake Washington for perch. Prefer north of 520 bridge. I have a boat. Thanks.

Although I don't fish for perch, I can offer a couple of general tips. Most of the fishing seems to take place in September, October and November when the perch move into shallower water to spawn. Juanita Bay, The north end of the lake north of Arrowhead Point and the Hunt's Point area are all good spots to try. Most seem to start with worms/nightcrawlers for bait and then switch to perchmeat once they have a fish or two in hand. Check the archives, I'm sure the lots of info available.

Perch actually spawn in the spring... they congregate in big schools usually by age class in the fall as water temps cool down and also move into deeper water. I have found them in 30-45' off Hunts Point, Yarrow Point and off the west side of the lake north of Sand Point. Start with a tiny Swedish Pimple tipped with a piece of worm right on the bottom. The first one you catch, sacrifice it to use as bait, cut into very small pieces and leave the skin on as this helps keep it on the hook. They are easy to catch once you find them. The toughest part is staying on the school. Good Luck.

My mistake. I assumed that's why they were schooling-up in shallow water.

You don't even really need to have a boat to catch perch...Its quite simple too. During the summer, they can be as shallow as about 5 feet, but you should focus around 10-30 feet in late spring and summer. I always just use a small (5'6") light action rod to make the perch seem bigger, and just pick up a can of worms at a store and drop one down and you can almost always get a fair share of perch.
