This is a very specific question, but I've seen discussion on the lake in this forum so I thought I'd give it a try.

My friends and I enjoy carp fishing, and I've heard there are a lot in Lake Tapps. The problem is that the lake is so big that exploring to find them is a daunting task. My only boat is a canoe and it's hard to cross the rough water.

So, has anyone seen a sheltered area of the lake that consistently has a lot of big carp, that is also close enough to public access that it's easy to reach by canoe?

Thank you

Are you going to harm the carp or release them after catching them?

This time of year is not good for a canoe. The wind comes up quick and blows me around. Normally the first week or so in June the guys are fishing off the shore at the county park. There are some 20 lbs and more in the lake. A few places the people feed them off their docks. When I fish a white spinner bait they think it is the bread the people feed them, What a ride on light line.

Well, I have some Russian friends who like to eat carp. I give them some, but the ones that aren't given away are released safely.

Thank you for the information Bill. But, I'm completely new to the lake, so...where's the county park? My map just marks several parks, not saying which are public or private.

Thank you

OK try map quest for directions to 2022 198th Ave. E. [off of 12th St. E.] Sumner Wa 98390
Or go to web site:
www.co.pierce.wa.us/pc/services/recreate/laketapps.htm
Once you figure out getting to the park and learn a few land marks around the area I can be more specific on exact holes.
The park will start charging a fee by Memorial day week end to park. I think the web site tells how much and when.
Let me know when you're ready for more info.
