I've never hit lake washington, but the more I look around, the more I hear that it is a great lake for smallmouth. Problem for me is... its huge. I've got a small boat and electric motor. Could those of you who fish it point me in the right direction, roughly, for fishing smallmouth in summer months on lake washington. Also, what setup and presentation seems to work best with them. Any advice would be great. I am, of course, a catch and release fisherman when it comes to bass, so, no worries of me cleaning ol Lake W out. J/K. Thanks guys.

Anywhere you can launch your boat you should probably find some smallmouth hanging around....I don't know too much about the fishery as I am still trying to learn it too but I caught my first smallmouth on the lake the other day a nice 4lb 4oz female on the spawning bed in late June but whatever its still back there for you to catch and I caught it on a plastic crawdad texas rigged them smallies love the crawdads...

a good launch to go out of the the mercer island launch. fish the many docks around the island. they seem to be in about 20' of water right now. the newport shores area (mainly the mouth) has got me a couple largies and smallies too. fish senkos, grubs, beavers, tubes, and drop shots. the perch are hitting real good too. got 30 yesterday in about 20 feet of water off a weedline drop off. about to eat them right now beer

buy a topo map of lake washington, find hard bottom in about 35' of water.
try throwing 1/2oz. football head jigs, with 4" yamamoto double tail grubs, in colors 221 and 176. just cast towards shore and retrieve slow to med. fast.
also try throwing a drop shot in the same location use a 4" junebug worm.
