I'm thinking about taking off early sometime this week from work in Auburn and going out after sea runs. I've never even attempted to go after them before, so if you want a good show, feel free to tag along

Anyways, will my Sage 5wt work? Should I just use a floating line? What kind of flies should I be looking at using for them? Any areas that you guys have had a lot of luck in?

Thanks all!

A 5 wt is fine, so is the floating line. Try amuddler pattern or a spruce fly. Look for structure on a rocky shore. Fish the incoming tide.

Any place with a fast moving current or perhaps a little stream outlet would most likely hold them...

Sorry, still haven't made it out. A series of unfortunate events, you might say...

Have hay in the fields, so it looks like this Saturday I won't be going out either. geez, this summer is definitely not going as planned.

Hey Zen... man I have definitely tried and given up... at least three times! I made probably a dozen woolly buggers each time and was like, "Why do I still suck??"

I've been thinking about taking a class at GRCC

How have you been lately? Haven't heard from you in awhile!

A course or a demo by a person who knows how to tie would make a good "short course" for you. I know I stuggled for years before I learned how to tie good flies.....then only long after that did I take my first course. I went with a buddy of mine and and when the course ended he was tying flies about as good as I was at the 10 year mark. Courses really make things easy.

Now, if you wanted a demo and were willing to come up to Kirkland I'd show you how.

I'm billwnr@hotmail.com. I'm home in the evenings generally by 5:30. Weekends I'm probably free.
