I am going fishing on Lake Tapps Thursday and I need some information...As my name implies I am new to fishing and I would like to try catching some bass tommorrow...I will be on my boat but I do not have a trolling motor yet so I would like to know what I should use to cast with and how to set up the line correctly...and where is a good spot to fish from that hopefully will produce a catch or two...I do plan on getting a trolling motor soon so I would also like to know how to set up a trolling line and what gear I need to use...thanks to all your replies they will be most helpful...

FN Just try trolling with your main motor idleing. Med action rod 10 lbs test mono 6 inch or more steel leader. Use a crank bait that runs 7 to 12 feet deep [red or silver] Drag it 20 yards back in about 15 to 20 feet of water.
You may catch a tiger that is the reason for the steel leader. Have a pair of long handle needle nose pliers with you and a big salmon net just in case. Try off bankers island out 20 feet from shore.
Hope this helped
Bill

Read this article on how to use soft plastic baits. It also has pics so you can see how to rig up your line. http://washingtonlakes.com/ReadArticle.aspx?id=201

No matter how long a person has been bass fishing I think going back and reading the articles that Bruce writes is a great tool to have. Every month I wait for them to come out and even if its information that I already knew, its great to read again from another persons perspective. And he writes them so well!
