I started cleaning up some of my bass tackle and putting it away for the winter. I was thinking maybe I don't do enough to make my equipment last and keep the performance I rely on.
What do you do to take care of your off season equipment?
I have taken the tackle out of the boat, released the drags on the reels, taken all the lures off and removed the hooks from the plastics.
I opened the tackle containers and made sure there isn't any condensation inside.
What else would you do?
Bill

Take off the old line, get rid of old spools of line, WD40 on clippers or pliers, take out any garbage from your tackle box, hang up the rods, organize everything so it's ready for next season...

Um, clean up the trash on the floor of the boat. I'm terrible about this kind of stuff, although I have learned my lesson and disconnect the boat's starter battery leads. Nothing worse than coming back to find the leads corroded after sitting all winter.

My bass gear doesn't get put away. laugh Fortunately I'm shorebound so I don't have a boat to clean or maintain. I kust keep my gear in good shape and fish on through the winter when I can.
