Could someone explain exactly why this lake gets drained every October thru March. Just a question out of curiosity. Drove by it on Saturday evening to just check it out. WOW!! What happens to the fish and wildlife habitat?Where do the fish go? Other than being totally wiped out.If I were a home owner I'd be mad. I was just ticked being a fisherman. Thanks, Todd

Great Question. I have wondered how the fish population can take this each year. I think the middle of the lake still holds water. But not sure. But I have caught bass in Tapps that are in the 3-4 pound range so they make it some how.

You guys know that parts of the lake are well over 100 feet deep when its full and they say that the water is dropped 20 feet so that leaves 80 feet of water to winter in. The 4 or 5 origanal lakes are still there we just don't think about them seperately. That's where the fish go.
The thing that stops me from fishing these spots is the 1/4 mile of mud flats from the full shoreline.
