I know a guy near by who paints homes, and has a sprayer.

Do not paint over the HUD tags on the ends of the home and do not remove them either. They have to be legible if you ever want to get another mortgage.

I spent 10+ years installing siding, windows, and painting homes. Pressurewashed hundreds of homes. Houses should have a moisture barrier, be it tar paper, or Tyvek that is what is important.

If you don't clean off the surface the paint will not adhere properly, simple chit. might want to use TSP and a scrub brush if you have any mildew going on in certain spots. If you just paint over them it will come back.... Again, look into Kelly Moore for painting metal, they do a lot of industrial stuff. Nothing is worse than latex on aluminum. The range of heat that the paint will encounter on metal siding is far different than wood or cement board siding. If you don't do your research you can end up with a bubbly pealing nightmare...

as strikezone says, "good luck"

I have been a painting contractor for 13 years and sold paint for 5 years prior.
It's important to clean the siding of all mildew and to remove any oxidation. If there is any bare aluminum, then use the appropriate primer. 100% acrylic paint works well with aluminum as long as you use vinyl/aluminum siding safe colors. Make sure you stay in the shade when applying the paint.
Sherwin Williams has a spectrum of colors that are safe for vinyl and aluminum siding. Kelly Moore and Sherwin Williams are both quality companies that will be able to provide you with everything you need. If you don't like the blank stare or incomplete answer from an employee, ask to speak to someone who actually knows what they are talking about. Don't go in on a Saturday, that is when they usually have the people who don't know anything working.
