a bunch.

I used to watch those droopy-winged birds take off and come back in, but never saw a manuver anywhere near like that. (see Dogfish quote below)

Silver Lake, in Spokane County, sits just a coupla miles from Fairchild
AFB. Used to watch the B36s shoot landings on the base while fishing
at Silver. Awesome bird. B47s flew in an out of there. B52s also.
Sitting on the lake the planes seemed larger than life.

Jeebus....I've only seen those in movies.
Well, grew up 3 miles from a SAC base so I saw B52's....

Yet another Apache crash theory...
I wonder if his map-of-the-earth nav kicked in when it sensed the structure and caused the pop-up ?
Then he over-compensates as he tries to take it back from the computer....

Ii didn't look like an autorotation attempt to me. It looked like his wing delivered less lift than he was expecting, and he pancaked that f'er into the ground while attempting a high-speed, low-altitude fly by.

Whatever the case may be, the outcome won't be good for his resume - or the taxpayers' pocketbooks.

My somewhat facetious point being that with more air under his airplane, he would have had more time to fix his problem, be it mechanical or mental.

After watching the clip again with sound, insufficient power for attempted maneuver, likely due to pilot's lack of familiarity with aircraft performance at given density altitude, does seem like the most likely candidate.

I am amazed that the crew survived, if that was indeed the case. Pretty gnarly tomahawk action there at the end.
