This video link is fresh (for the public). It was made just 6 weeks ago in the Atlantic, just off Newport News (Hampton Roads), Virginia. These are the latest sea trials of the F-35B on the USS Wasp. They were very successful, with 74 VL's & STO's in a 3 week period. The media and the program critics had predicted that we would burn holes in the deck and wash sailors overboard. Neither of which happened. You will notice a sailor standing on the bow of the ship as the jet rotates. That was an intentional part of the sea trials. No catapult... No hook... It’s a new world out there! The shape and scope of warfare – worldwide – just changed. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=Ki86x1WKPmE&feature=colike

Nice plane. Let's go kill some MF's. How about some Somali Pirates?
That guy standing on the front would get the mother of all Keel Hauling's if he was blown off.

I was at an airshow on Elliot Bay years ago, they had a Harrier jet that was doing exercises, I'll never forget how loud that SOB was.

Make something other than the Osprey that can take off vertically, and that would be the real deal. The F38 is pretty cool, though.

its an F-35, not a 38, and is super cool plane... its derived from the X-35 and based off the F-22 Raptor fighter... while only able to hit mid Mach 1 range, its going to be a deadly weapon to have a Stealth equipped jet like that in the arsenal... could be as influential and impacting as the A-10 Warthog...

I am note an expert on these new aircraft, from what I know from working on the F-22 for 16 years, the F-35 is a whole new aircraft and is not based on the F-22. Also worked on the F-35 proposal from the local kite factory. Altho the 2 planes might look similar to the untrained eye there is no comparison.

not "based", i should have stated that different im sorry sir, the 22 was the start of all of the new superiority 5th gen fighters... the design is somewhat incorporated into the 35, all anyone has to do is look to see that... but you are correct, they are not anywhere near the same besides the looks, the 22 is a twin engine, and the 35 is a single engine, that moves, the 22s are fixed like that of the f-14 and F-15, they both have stealth capability tho.. to me, its as if the F-22 is to replace the mighty Tomcats, and F-15s, and the Lighting is to replace the F-16, fully... cant wait to see what they come out with to replace the F-18s, the Superhornets are cool, but alot more can be had IMO...

General Schwarzkopf once stated in one of his famous press briefings, "We have achieved air superiority."
A British Air Force general corrected him saying, "No General, we have achieved air supremacy."
Schwarzkopf then smiled, turned back to the press and said, "We achieved air supremacy."
It was an interesting moment and I think of it whenever the word "superiority" comes up when discussing our air.

Very cool video! This is one of the favorite topics amongst a couple of old fighter jocks I work with. Although they may look alike basically no contest between the F22 and the F35. F35 being a multi role aircraft and the F22 being strictly an air superiority aircraft. The F22 cruises at mach 1.8 which is greater then the top speed, with full afterburners, of the F35 at M 1.6. When Oboma/Congress canceled any follow on procurement of the F22 I asked one of my buddies his thoughts and word from his old squadron was basically that we don't need any more then the 180 or so F22's already built or ordered to control the skies anywhere in the world even if the enemy was flying the F35. It's that dominating! Put another way the US will sell the F35 to any ally but the USAF is and always will be the only AF to fly the F22

Amazing plane - but I want to see the video in high seas, cross winds and at night. Bluebird days are great for promo videos I guess....;)
