Have not seen to many reports its been a few days it must not of gone well,I must of been one of the real lucky ones.I saw more elk this year than in the past few,On sunday evening I had a six point walk in on me at about 25 feet he hung around for about 10 minutes and caught wind of me.on tuesday I was able to fill my spike only tag.I took him at about 145 yds he was in herd with 7pt three 6pts two 5pts and a bunch of rag heads, not to mention about 25 cows unfortunatly the pack was all up hill about 4 miles worth.well enough bragging lets here the other stories.

Congrats Loomis!!! I am glad that someone is in the animals! This has been a very strange year with no rain. We worked our normal routine but nothing other than 1 spike bull. We changed tactics to look for water and food. Thanks God for the RAIN!!! PS.. do you want to share a general area? THANKS!!!!

We hunt the Little Naches unit for elk and it was really bad this year. We saw close to a hundred elk while deer hunting the same area's,but elk season rolled around and they all vanished. We talked to 6 guys with any bull tags and all 6 were going home empty handed. I hunted hard for 6 days and saw a grand total of 4 cows on the day we were leaving. We even got lucky and had 6" of snow for the last 3 days and even that didn't help. It was a strange year.

Loomis... Our camp is at 4300' and the area's we hunt range from 4800' to 5900'. We concentrate on the area's around Bald Mt. Like I said we saw a bunch of elk while deer hunting. We saw numerous spikes and small raghorns, and also saw 5 big bulls ranging from a 5x6 up to a monster 7x7 that bugled over 30 times on the deer opener. We watched the 7x7 with nine cows for over four hours while glassing a clearcut for deer.
If you want to e-mail me it would be interesting to hear the area's you hunt, maybe what kind of truck you drive,I may have seen you over there.

Okay, You be the judge. Is this how it should be done? How about this for a nice clean piece of meat? Same day, by the way, I just changed shirt and pants after the field dressing. Andy

Not sure if this pic is gonna come up or not. If so here's a bull that I helped my buddy get in the skookumchuck unit last weekend. One of three branched bulls we got.

I guess it needs to be sized down to put on a post. If you want to see it its in the photo gallery - bulletin board under the heading of hunter(my son).

We hunted out around Little Naches during early muzzleloader season and didn't see hide nor hair of an elk. There was sign all over the place on opening day, but no elk. I didn't seen a single fresh sign after opening day, either. I guess the army of hunters ran them all out. I've never seen so many muzzleloader hunters in one place in my life.
