Yup, 6 months waiting to clear my background check, etc.

That, and a $200 tax stamp, and shooting just got quieter. No rounds through the 6.8 yet, gonna have Black Bart check the muzzle device. Ran a few .223 rounds through it, after checking it for alignment, and then a few .22 LR's. Certainly brought down the noise level.

nice lookin gun... the whole "you can buy and own a silencer, but cant use it" law here was probably the stupidest thing ever created... people watch movies and games entirely too much, it just muffles the sound, doesnt eliminate it... glad to see this state is finally starting to realize it, and let people use them...

The action moving and the impact of the .22's is louder than the report with subsonics. Just wish I had a .22 bolt gun with a threaded barrell.

Ran three brands of subs through my .223 AR with the Ceiner kit in it, and all functioned perfectly.

true, .22s get extremely quiet... i had the chance to shoot a .22 bolt gun, and running standard .22 LR ammo, all it was, was a click, wizz, smack.... a .223 tho, you will have a significant 'pop"... not nearly as loud as normal, but still loud enough to determine what it was if in ear shot range of it...

I am thinking of getting one for my 22 rifle and pistol. I am also considering getting my first AR. I would want a supressor that would fit all of them if such a thing is possible.

that would be impossible, unless the barrels on all 3 guns are the exact same diameter to be able to thread it on...

If your AR is a .223, then it will most likely have 1/2"x28 threads unless it is an HK 93 or some other Euro-trash gun wink . Your threaded barrels for .22LR's are also likely going to be 1/2"x28. Technically you could use the same suppressor for all three, but a suppressor that will handle .223 is going to be fairly heavy on a pistol unless you go titanium.

Also, you shouldn't shoot a lot of .22LR through a sealed (non-serviceable) can, like mine, because of the buildup that can occur from .22LR ammo (it is really dirty). You can get a reasonable .223 can starting around $550, + the $200 tax stamp and a 6 month wait. 7.62 cans start at about $700 and go upwards of $1,200, plus the $200 stamp. My can, stamp included, was just over $1,000.

You would be better off ordering a .22LR dedicated can for your pistol and rifle that you can clean. I had my dealer set aside a Gemtech Alpine today. It can handle .22LR, .22 Mag, and .17 HMR. About $350, plus the stamp.

Final can will be one in .45ACP. That way I can use it on my .45ACP pistols, and lesser calibers. Good pistol cans start around $700.

3 cans will pretty much cover all of my firearms that have threaded barrels. Better to buy a higher end can, as you will likely own it for the rest of your life.

I formed a specific NFA trust so that other trustees in my trust can use them without me there. My wife, boys, dad & father-in-law, and one friend are listed as trustees. If I owned them in my personal name, no-one else, other than a class 3 dealer, could have them in their possession, and that would cause an issue when I die, making my heirs go through the transfer process, and pay a $200 stamp fee for something I already own.

Hope this helps.

For me, I too would buy the very best suppressor that your class three dealer has to offer. Setting up the trust, lawyers and all, just make no sense to cheap out on the can purchase. Buy one that you can take apart and clean after use. Remember, once you got it, it's hard to transfer it.

I was in a gun shop in Elma yesterday and the owner had a bunch of suppressors in his display case. I was actually there to do a pistol trade on a Sig 226 I had. After the pistol swap was done, I asked about the suppressors. My question was...what made one more expensive than the other ? His reply... you're the F'n machinist...you tell me...

This was after he stuck it to me real good right up my backside on the pistol trade. Never will go back there ever and will do my best to go out of my way to convey my thoughts about this prick with the few people I still know in the local firearms trade exactly what you can expect in Elma. Oddly enough, that's a whole lotta folks.

Andy....I'll be hapy take on any of your suppressor projects... at no charge, well, maybe a chicken... just to piss this guy off. Pistols, rifles, revolvers, shotguns....you got a gun project....Bring it !

So I'm thinking that all of the questionable alingnment issuse have been resolved with your can purchase and there will be no need for any double checks on your can. It's cool....

Cliff says that they are just spending way to many hours cleaning lings and sea bass and the big flat ones to even answer his phone because he was actually expecting a call from you and your boys.

So sorry Marvin,

Sorry for no contact. Haven't shot the 6.8 with the can just yet, as I've been just a bit busy with side jobs. .223 works well with it. Less clearance with the 6.8, so I would like that checked.

Since Monday I've put in 97 hours between being a banker and running a side project putting a repo home back together for our bank, getting it ready for sale. 25 hours this weekend, plus every night but Friday. Oh, and I've driven 864 miles, give or take, as well. smile I'm a tired pup, but I should be able to buy a few new toys because of the work we've done, and pay for some gas. Son is eyeing a 10/22 and a SIG 226 with the .22/9mm combo. Me, just a few new cans. wink

Life should settle down this week and I'll play hookey for half a day, but don't tell my boss. Let me look at my schedule and I'll get in touch with you offline and see what works for both of us. I feel an "eye problem" developing. "I can't see" spending anymore time at work this week than necessary, as I've put my life on hold for the bank for the past two weeks.

Thanks again for the kind offer.

That was my concern. My initial look at the gemtech site listed rimfire supressors you could dissasemble for cleaning but I did not notice the same in the centerfire line. I just started looking into it. I dont even have the AR yet actually. Good info Dogfish. Thanks.
