would this happen in the bigger pontoon boats or raft? I cant see all that air in the tubes getting sucked down in the current and there is nothing for the water fill to sink a bigger pontoons maybe it would flip? (Bigger meaning 12'+)?

I saw it happen to a Badcat once.
The tubes popped like party balloons.

dont know about the big cats 14+, but i have seen pontoons (8-10) get stuck in big hydraulics, back end getting sucked down...lookin at the clouds going in circles didnt look fun! after enough spastic oar slaps and the ability to finally focus, they eventually started pushing as oppose to pulling w/ the oars and pushed thru.

Steelie Drew is right on, always carry a knife in the boat, or fishing on the bank.

Personally I always wear my rafting life jacket because not only does it keep me warm it keeps me safe. The knife is on it just in case my waders take on water that way I can hopefully cut the ankles out so I don't load up with water and sink to my death.

Glad they made it out safely. You don't last long in spring runoff. It was snow the day before.

A couple years ago, someone posted some badass whitewater footage taken above a river. It showed all sorts of boats going through, with most of them getting WORKED hard. I was surprised to see all the toons get immediately flipped. At least they float when after they go over though.
