I would like to take my wife on a 3 day road trip in Canada, I would prefer the coastal area.

My only expirience in Canada is getting messed up on Granville street when I was 19.. Not exactly the trip I want to take my wife on.

Any recomendations on places to stay and touristy [Bleeeeep!] to visit?

Drive on up to the tip of Vancouver Island. Visit the bigger cities along the way. Make a final stop at Port Hardy.

Since you're already up there, spend a day or two fishing with Chad!

It's a WIN WIN trip, if you ask me!

+ 1 on Vancouver Island. Port Hardy is a good spot for a fishing trip but might be a bit far for a 3 day trip. Depends on what you want to do. We used go to Victoria for a couple days before sailing up island. Duncan, Parksville, Campbell River, Ucluelet and Tofino are all good spots to visit. Chemanius has painted murals and a nice theater that usually has things going on. Ladysmith is Pam Anderson's home turf so you might get a look at her on the way thru. We went to a 3 day reggae festival in Ladysmith that was great. You can catch a ferry in Sidney to Saltspring Island which is a nice spot also.
Catch the Coho ferry in Port Angeles and you'll be in downtown Victoria.

Start in Victoria (leaving from PA), go to the natural history museum. Eat out at the restaurants in the area along the waterfront.

Head up towards Nanaimo, then over to Ucluelet, and then up to the tip.

Wife and I had a great time doing that when she was pregnant with our oldest son many years ago.

Oh yea, check the price of fuel before you go. Typically, it's more in Canada but i haven't checked. I usually change my money beofre I go also so I don't have to depend on somebody in a small store to figure out the exchange rate because it's typically in their favor and may be a lot in their favor.
