Is it just me or have the fairs changed from having great events and shows and now it just seems like one big sales pitch?

I went two weekends ago for the first time since '96 or '97...we had a good time. Missed the dogs, but saw a shitton of other animals. We actually spent about an hour looking at all the food that got entered in the Fair, especially the canned food...stole some ideas.
Watched the little kids ride sheep...and that was worth the price of admission right there.
Ate a bunch of crappy junk food, went on a bunch of rides, and won some junk playing some games...and enjoyed all of it.
My lady loves the fair, and it's hard to not have a good time when she's having such a good time.
Fish on...
Todd

Haven't been in a few years, but the people watching alone is worth the price of admittance.

We love it. Kids "mutton busted" last year and it's hilarious as Todd says. Food, rides, creepy-hobby hall collections, etc.
Not a screamin' deal, but I wouldn't miss it.

Another thumbs up for Oysterfest.
We like the smaller fairs, like GH County. Not a big fan of huge crowds and paying to park.

Oysterfest is great! As the event is sponsered by the Skookum Shelton Rotary Club, ALL the money raised by the club goes to the club foundation to be used for things they support. Check out the kids events - cucumber toss, crab races. Bands and beer also. http://www.oysterfest.org/

Haven't done the Puyallup for a long time so my heart wont palpitate.
Will not be doing the Mason County Oyster/Tweaker Fest this year. Loved the oysters last year but my wife can't handle people with no teeth and they didn't serve wine at or near the beer garden. The Varmits didn't sound all that good.

I heard noises about changing the name of the Puyallup Fair to the Seattle Fair.
The story is they aren't going to give up the slogan "Do the Puyallup", tho.

Wrong again, Slab. It's going to be the "Washington State Fair"....
Yes they're keeping the "Do the Puyallup" line.

If your date is under 18 I can give you a free pass that we didn't use with my daughter. Might want to do it over PM so you aren't viewed as a pee-do

If you had to choose, I would go to oyster fest. I was never too impressed with the fair; but to each his/her own. Plenty of toothless characters at the Puyallup, but no oysters.
