I'm trying to figure out my odds on getting drawn for the multi season tag, It's where you can hunt archery, muzzleloader and rifle seasons. All with out having to choose one weapon. They are issuing 1,500 of them. Any one else on this board put in for it? I didn't know about it untill I was selling a tag for some one. I got my ap. on the last day of the sale.

WC - I tried unsuccessfully for the permit. Was fishing with Bob on Sunday (the application deadline), and by the time I got back to my computer they apparently had pulled the permit option (or at least I couldn't find it on the site). I called the WDFW on Monday, and they couldn't explain it.
Anyway, no way to tell your odds, since this is the first year and we don't know how many people applied for each permit. But there were 1500 permits for deer, and 500 for elk. The guy I spoke with at WDFW said they had 450 applications on Sunday. But if everyone else is like me and waited to the last minute, 450 applications for 2000 total permits doesn't seem like that many.

i think the idea is great, but for $165, you've got to have a lot of time to hunt. i can't imagine (in my situation) being to take off from work and family to hunt for what amounts to 3 weeks for one species. i do like the fact that if you get blanked during the archery season, you can still hunt the mf season, though. if they lowered the price, i'd be inclined to sign up, though. good luck jerry!

I heard as of April 3rd there was 27,000 applications already, so I would guess that in the 6 days after that there would have been quite a few more apply, since most of us tend to wait till the last minute. So I could see the number being up around 40,000 or so,(just a WAG)and with that odds would be about 1 in 20, which isn't bad, but not good either. I put in for both deer and elk, but I'm hoping I don't draw either one, as I don't have the money this year. Next year I do hope to draw at least one of them.

LCW - like you, no way I could get three weeks to hunt. My thinking with these permits (had I been able to apply) was that it would essentially allow me to hunt whenever I found a couple days free - between the three weapon classes, there is bound to be something open at any given time August - December. But if you limit yourself to one weapon class, you have to be able to hunt when that season is open. I hunt rifle deer in north central WA - my season this year is down to 9 days!

Yeah, actually it would be good for the guy who didn't have much time to hunt. If you could get in a couple of weekend hunts every month from September through December, it would add up to quite a bit of hunting time. It would be great for somebody who didn't have or couldn't afford to use vacation to hunt during the week. I think it's well worth the $160, especially for somebody who already has a bow, a muzzleloader, and a rifle.

I tried for both. I'd love to get the elk tag.

The really nice thing about the elk permit is that it allows you to hunt both eastern and western washington. You can apply for the good any bull permits on the east side, and if not successful, still hunt the west side for a bull, instead of being stuck with only hunting spikes during the general season on the east side.

I put in for both too. Hope mostly for the elk for the same reason Ape mentioned, with max points would like to put in for east side permits for bow but hunt my west side if no draw. On that subject what is the opoinion on best permit areas for archery for big bull. I went to oak creek feed area this March and saw some dandy east side bulls that makes me think the east side is where to go for the permit. What do you think. As for deer I blew all my points on a entiat bow tag last year had fun and tagged a small buck so starting over now.
