i was wanting to get into bow hunting for deer and elk and i have no idea what to look for in a bow, brands, length, pounds, etc. i am not wanting to spend over 450 bucks on a bow, unless i really need to. so any help would be great. thanks!

well sullie if i were you i would find the nearest archery shop and have them find your correct draw length, and what the draw weight that would suit you. most people i shoot with are around 65lbs of pull, it just depends on what you are comfortable pulling back. there are lots of different styles of bows out there so dont be shy about getting a feel for them and ask questions as to what makes each bow different from another. if you cant seem to find a bow around 450 i would recomend a cabelas or bass pro shops catalog and if you see a bow that looks good to you just order according to your draw length and weight and take it to a archery shop and they will set your peep sight correctly and your draw weight. and most shops will give you shooting tip or a little instruction if you ask them.dont be afraid to ask questions about anything. i hope this gets you on your way.

I agree with Plunkin, a reputable shop will point you in the right direction. I have been shooting archery for over 10 yrs now, both hunting and competition... It is very important to get the right bow, and have it fit you for your need. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions...
