Maybe I'm wrong but it appears you are cherry picking a statement to support your Republican/ conservative ideology. In chapter 20 ,about 17:00, Chris states (not an exact quote) he believes that none of the issues in the crash course are being addressed on a national or international level. I take that as including both political parties and IMO the case that Republican policy would in general make things worse than Democrat policy, albeit not by much as the same powers are behind both parties , could easily be made. Throughout the crash course Chris points out that the problems are systemic and wouldn't be addressed, let alone solved by the status quo which both U.S. parties are committed to uphold.

Cherry-picking a select few paragraphs doesn't necessarily represent Republican/conservative ideology if a part of that recognizes the predicament we face and the fact both parties are responsible. I was echoing his assertion that simply raising taxes is the wrongheaded approach to a solution to the problem. I can agree with some of the points in the course and disagree with many others. His isn't the only way to outline the dilemma or fix it. So adjusting tax authority back to the Clinton era won't generate new tax revenues?

What? When did Hankster pick up this tactic?

I just find it a bit aggravating that with all the information laid out in crash course you focus on an ideologically self serving and partisan hot button issue from a small part of a blog post that isn't even written by Chris Martenson. Oh well, at least you recognize both parties are responsible. There's something I've never read from the Hankster. That's encouraging.

Ya,I would say Martenson would agree with Taggert in the respect that the government is just going to throw money at the problem and that applies whichever party is in control. Tax cut or increases are just tinkering around the edges. I just think there is a whole lot more to take away from crash course and to get hug up on the tax issue is focusing on a very small piece of the big picture that Martenson is trying to get across.
Hey,am I correct in remembering reading you where at that Stones Altamount fiasco?

Well, I don't know if I believe that you went though the crash course because one of the things that is stressed is that economic and population growth can't be sustained in a finite world and doesn't equal prosperity. I graduated from high school that year and was there too. Drove down from Seattle. I got there the day of the show. Sounds like I missed the good part. A friend and I were down by the stage and way to close to all the mayhem. Did you encounter that group of Hell Angels lead by that asshole with the coyote face hat that were beating the crap out of random people? I saw them doing that all day and hope to God the didn't stink eye me. Take a look at this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt0ipUCfdlUAbout 6:00 there is a naked chick flailing around in front of the stage. I was about 50 ft in front of the stage and she came flailing right by me when some Mexican jumped her and tried to fvck her right at my feet. I was standing there contemplating whether kicking him in the balls was worth the chance of his buddys sticking a knife in my ribs when luckily she fought the prick off. A few minutes later I see her getting pulled up on the stage by some Hells Angels and I'm thinking now she's in good hands. Hahaha.

It seems to me you are trying very hard to only look at what you want to see. Believe it or not there are some countries that are pumping humans out at at an incredibly high rate. China comes to mind. It's about exponential growth. Anyway,I'm not trying to push crash course on you, but you really need to go through he whole thing to form an honest opinion about it.

That's good news about China but even with the fertility rate down the actual growth rate is still ,5% and the world growth rate is 1.15%. With a population of around 7 billion that's a lot of people added. The UN predicts the world population will peak at 9.22 billion in 2075. Who knows, maybe there will be a pandemic and the population will be way down soon. Putting that aside, I still think you should go through the whole crash course before you come to a conclusion. If you did that you would know that many of the things laid out in it aren't hard predictions, just varying probability of happening and at the end gives a guide of for what individuals can do to prepare for whatever scenario they feel is most likely to happen. BTW you can watch the video and not have to read it.
