You might as well C&P the article, but it's pretty likely to be propaganda aimed at scaring firearms owners, like myself, into aligning with the cause. Yawn.

When the rubber meets the road, how are NRA scare tactics any different than pro-choice "back-alley-coat-hanger-abortions" scare tactics? what party wants to ban all guns?

Gotta be some thinkers out there.
Too many thinkers... and not enough do'ers anymore.

Not a fan of the NRA.
Myself, a democratic representative, and a few friends were able to get legislation passed that allowed for the use of suppressors in this state. This upcom ing session we're working on short barreled rifles and short barreled shotguns. Also without the NRA.
I guess I'm a "do'er".

I think you're missing the point. Neither party wants to ban all guns and neither party wants to ban all abortions. i would agree that the republicans use abortion as a dangling carrot for extremist voters... but their platform does call for a total ban on abortions. does the democratic party's platform call for a complete ban on guns?

A lot of (most) people would understand something the first time they read it. Not so in your case. Read what I said about Democrats (or anybody) wanting a complete ban on guns again, just to clear things up for you. The Republican platform doesn't call for a ban on all abortions. Open the link, go to the relevant portion and point out to me where it does that. 2012 GOP Platform Page 13-14 "Faithful to the “self-evident” truths enshrined inthe Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn chid has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children... " The Republican presidential nominee favored an abortion ban with exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother. That was considered a "moderate" position in the party.

It's only relevant to the topic at hand so far as it goes to further show that Hank is not only fullofshit, but intentionally so...claiming a glob of cells has an "individual right to life that cannot be infringed" is indeed a call for an outright ban on all abortions in all cases.
And Hank knows this.
He also knows that the NRA is fullofshit.
Fish on...

Why does the NRA negotiate with the Rights it is supposedly protecting ?
I would love to have seen the NRA mobilize it's vast membership to go to the aid of those civilians who needed help maintaining their right to keep and bear arms during the Katrina aftermath. I mean march right down there enforce, and stand with the civilians in the face of the B.S. marshall law enforcement. That is the kind of demonstration that would make a lasting statement to those in power. Instead, they sat on their couches and watched the little old lady get tackled by some big doof with a badge. I know there would be logistical problems...........but I also know they take in enough greenbacks to move mountains if properly used.
Should I take heart in the fact that the NRA has seen to it that something like that could never happen again ?
