It’s not every day you find yourself being hunted by a deer. But Officers Parkert and Bolton can tell you exactly what that's like after responding to a 911 call regarding an aggressive deer.
The buck had attacked a husband and wife as they were working outside, pinning them between a chop saw and their garage. The husband was able to escape and get his wife to safety through the roll-up garage door. When Officers Bolton and Parkert arrived, the deer had trapped a responding Klickitat County Sheriff’s Deputy and the couple on the porch. It didn't take long for the deer to turn its attention to Fish and Wildlife Officers, however. As Officer Bolton was retrieving his rifle from the patrol truck, the deer began walking toward the vehicle with his ears back and lips curled up. Both Officers jumped back into the patrol truck as the deer attacked the driver’s side door. The deer then began attacking a duffel bag that had been left outside. While the deer was preoccupied with goring the duffle bag, Officer Bolton was able to dispatch the animal.
The victims told him that the deer had been raised by their neighbor as a 'pet.' The neighbors were interviewed and the investigation into keeping wildlife captive is ongoing. Fortunately, the only injuries sustained were scratches and minor dents to the patrol truck door from the deer's antlers.
