So now that I have successfully taken the "new" Willies out, I need to turn my attention to refurbising the trailer. Anybody with input on a new roller and where to get the trailer sandblasted in the Snohomish/Everett area please chime in.
Glad to see mr squawslayer found a drift boat. Saw that Fushrite the week after the Willies appeared and they look very similiar. Sounds as if he needs a new roller as well.
Thanks for the help.

These guys are in gig harbor. http://www.driftboattrailers.com/Custom-Rollers.htmlAnd I found this on a wooden drift boat forum: Reply by chris towles on October 28, 2010 at 3:51pm not to try and cut your business or advertising budget or anything... but for dirtbags like me, a cheap diy roller can be made with some 3/4" pipe and 1 1/4" pvc over the top. stole the idea from my roomates raft trailer and it has worked like a charm all season...cost me $12 at ace.

My first DB trailer was an adapted runaboat trailer. I stacked conventional rubber rollers for the tail roller and it worked.
My current DB trailer is a Baker and they use a 2-1/2" dia. galvanized steel tube with bearings on each end. Industry-standard stuff. When you're trying to load in a heavy cross current, a big, wide roller on bearings is a nice thing to have.
When the boat on on the bunks it is off of the roller.
I would look around for a roller like that if the budget allows.

That Old Eastside is a thing of beauty Dogfish. Mine has moved to easier times in Montana. Just became too much boat for me to row.
I was kind of thinking about getting a 'toon from catchercraft, but not sure how much I would use it.
<back to previous topic>
I made a back roller with gas pipe with a couple pieces of different diameter PVC pipe over it. It was enough to carry the weight of my old (1972) Eastside, and that thing was a tank.

Not sure how easily this one rolls but it does provide the 'cush'. As seen on Monday by my dad at the Bogey launch. I think this was probably the tow vehicle

Geez - If I only knew an old mattress would have solved my problems I would have saved one from one of my college bound kids!! Also would have addressed the question about them movin' back home! I was able to loosen up the roller a bit. I think I will try adding a piece of PVC over the roller.
Plan to cut a piece of PVC to length, run the length over the table saw and then fit over the old roller. If need be, I will zip tie the PVC to keep it somewhat tight to the roller.
Thanks for the suggestions.
