In keeping with a current theme...help! A friend and I purchased our first driftboat this summer and, after a few trips down the Sky and lower Stilly, absolutely love it. However, I do have a question for all of the experienced Sky driftboaters out there. Having put in at Sultan, how do you best negotiate the Sultan-Skykomish confluence? i.e. angle of entry and speed of entry into the main current? We have managed to "pop" through into the main current a couple of times now without an incident but each time has brought the heart rate way up. Any suggestions and or hints would be greatly appreciated.

Depends if you are putting in or taking out there. If you are taking out then come into it from the side with the RR. Just head for the shore and slide up in to the Sultan. If you are putting in there then just slip out near the shore near the rip rap and head out and down, you will already be downstream from the major part of the boil when you enter the river. As long as you don't head out into the main current where the Sultan and Skykomish meet you shouldn't have any problem.

Stever in Everett-
Thanks a million for the tip. Maybe next time the fishing will be more exciting than the put-in.
