I think I'm looking for Eric in Aberdeen. I recently bought the 14' glass driftboat and trailer I think you sold to BK awhile back. I got stopped the other day because of the expired plates. No ticket but a warning I'll get a stiff one next time. So I went to the license branch with the bill of sale from BK to register it in my name and get new plates and tabs. But apparently BK never registered the trailer in his name and the license people say I need a bill of sale from the "owner of record" to put the trailer in my name. The catch here is - the state won't tell me who the owner of record is! What a frigging headache for a little trailer whose plates will cost about $35.

Anyway, I haven't been able to get ahold of BK lately but I thought he said he bought it from a guy named Eric via this board. Or even post up here how I can get in touch with you so we can figure out how to put together a piece of paper the state will be happy with.

Your lucky! I'm off the net most of the summer but caught this. Thank my brother in law. Yeah something so simple can be a total pain in the ass-welcome to Washington.

If it gets to be too much of a hassle, you might get away with registering an old trailer like that by using the Ak solution: tell them it's homemade.

I was thinking about that but the trailer apparently has a VIN number somewhere on it that the state ties to the owner of recor.

Even if that VIN did somehow dissappear I'd still need to take it to the state patrol for inspection (and the lights are screwed now anyway), then get it weighed on "official" scales.

This whole thing is ridiculous.

Bruce-forget the trailer lites.For about $20 you can rig up lites to a 2x4 strap it to your boat and forget about having to always mess with those friggin trailer lites. When you get to your destination,just unstrap & launch. found this to be ez & stress free! Just a thought.<')>>><

I had thought of that but now I'm convinced the problem comes from the truck wiring. I had U-Haul rig it up with the 3/2 converter and all that. Right now it looks like the brake lights are always on and the right turn signal comes on when I'm turning left and the left one never comes on. U-Haul says they'll fix it no charge so I'm headed back....

Glad it worked out and for the record, the trailer is homemade-I built it. It went through the state patrol inspection, hence the vin number and all that stuff.

As far as the lights go, it very well may be your truck. If you crawl under the trailer, you'll notice the wiring was tucked up and away to eleiminate snagging and breaking of the circut. However, check the ground and your connections. if there is any rust around them sometimes sanding to bare metal and re-tightening will do the trick. that goes for any trailer. good luck.
