I'll take weapons advice from this creepy guy just as soon as his security detail, and his Boss's, switch out to shotguns only for their load out. What an ignorant fool.

I like Joe Biden because I think he means well. Unfortunately he has best developed knack in the US for opening his mouth and sticking his foot in it. I expect a guy in his position to be smart enough to seek out the best information on a subject and then act on it. However his job description is to perform whatever duties his boss assigns.

To carry on a logical thought process, of which most of the gun legislation movement is devoid, it occurs to me that if everyone acted on Joe's advice, like it's really the best thing to do (and BTW, I don't think it's that bad. Shotguns are very useful, intimidating, and blow big holes in things.) then America would be saturated with shotguns. And then guess what? People seeking to commit a firearm crime would more often select shotguns, not because they're the best choice, but because of the increased convenience due to sheer abundance. Then in the next go round of anti-gun wailing and gov't. misbelief that it can actually solve the problem, there would be a slew of new proposals to regulate shotguns.

I hate being so cynical, but so often it seems like thinking has gone out of style.

yeah he said something about that last month... while i agree that a shotgun may be a great choice for home defense, it might not be the "best" for everyone...

other than that hes full of sh!t....

next time them grimy little tweakers come back to steal sh!t, im going to walk out on my porch, aim my shotgun, and fire 2 warning shots... then when the police come to arrest me, im going to say the VP said it was ok and thats what i should do.... thatll work great im sure...

Abundantly clear to see where they're headed.

Edit:
I do believe he means well, Sg.
For a quail huntin' partner, he may even be safer than Cheney.

With Uncle Joe as a quail hunting partner you'll probably come home without a face full of bird shot, but he recommends firing warning shots. You won't be coming home with many quail either.

rofl

I'm counting on those warning shots so I can hit the fukkin deck.

For someone who is second in charge of the Executive Branch of our government, essentially the law enforcement arm of the government (the other two branches make the laws, and interpret the laws), he is advocating that people commit reckless endangerment (warning shots), and he is unaware that grenade launchers and machine guns are legal items that people can purchase, depnding on which state the purchaser lives in.

Might have to buy a 40MM M79 or similar weapon, just because it is legal here in Washington State.

Like I said, there is overflowing evidence that thinking has gone out of style.

I wish there were a requirement for every firearm law proposal that the sponsor provide a clear, cogent, and convincing rationale describing how the prospective regulation will produce the desired outcome. I guess that means they also need to explain what the desired outcome is, and I'm guessing many couldn't even do that.

RD,

That's the problem IMO. Politicians feel a critical need to "do something" in response to recent mass gun violence. However, few, if any, are bothering to think any proposal through to the most probable outcome(s). A little thought and almost none of the proposals, other than expanded background checks, so far make any sense.

Yeah, that thought has crossed my mind...until I was told that you'd have to build a BATF approved ammo bunker to hold the 40mm ammo...and that you'd have to pre-arrange a BATF approved shooting place and time to shoot off said 40mm ammo, not to mention that I'm sure there are more BATF forms for transport of 40mm ammo.....

Oh, and what's the tax stamp per round of 40mm ammo?

I was told to just stick with the 37mm stuff. Less hassle that way and besides, look a all the GOODIES you can get in 37mm!

I think my SRC Spud Gun needs a 37mm tube attached to the underside of the barrel. Shooting 37mm flares and bean bags at other SRC boats sounds like a lot of fun...for me!

I believe the bunker issue only needs to be addressed once you have decided to acquire the 40MM explosive rounds. Good luck on finding a vendor willing to sell you some, and pay a $200 tax per round, plus the round. Marker rounds, are another matter. Also, 37MM barrels are not rifled, while 40MM barrel are, which is what is needed to impart the spin that arms spendy projectiles. Can't shoot marker rounds from a 37MM unless registered as a DD.
