We have been having a few people ask for Lamiglas rods here at the shop. I have an old Northwest special 1000, and an older LHS Esprit, but it is 15 years old. Does anyone have experience with the newer LHS rods or the new Titanimum rods?
How do the compare to G Loomis rods?

Hey TH, I have several Lamiglas rods. I have a 10'0 Bill Herzog model I use for float fishing on the peninsula, a model 1324 and the new LHS for all around steelhead and salmon fishing. I like all of them alot, but I would say that while the LHS is sensitive and very strong in the butt, it does wear me out after casting it all day. I have to give them a thumbs up.

How do you like your 1324? I JUST busted mine last week, and had to break down and get a GL2 as a spare rod... hehe...

I don't believe I have seen the dark red blank... Mine is the standard grey/graphite color...

I used the 1324's for 7yrs. Although a bit heavy, it was the toughest rod I've owened. Notice I said was, left it in the boat and someone stole it. I loved that rod. TH the line guide on the reel we traded is not working. Any ideas on how to fix it? Duck

First, Duck.. no clue, I hadn't fished that reel in months, maybe it needs cleaning? If you clean it and it doesn't help let me know and I'll see if I can send you the necessary parts to fix it. I thinkI still have a few old ones that I maybe able to use for parts?? No promises.
Second, I guess when I was looking in my catalog I was looking at the
XSH1142L 9'6'' 6-10 it is a bark brown I believe.

I use both Lamiglass and Loomis rods and found that Lami has a larger selection of longer, lighter action rods. I also have the 10'ft Herzog 6-10lb. and use it for float fishing (and summer running). Before this, I used the 9.5' 1142L 6-10lb. rod and loved them both. I built both rods using match spin guides (like the Loomis 1141) which I think makes the rod more balanced than using the heavier spin guides (can't get them this way from Lami).
Both Lami blanks are made from Certified Pro graphite which I believe is lower modulus than the GL3. But neither seems less sensitive than my GL3 1143 (9.5' 6-12 medium), which I use as my standard medium action casting rod.
I recently felt a new Lami Titanium, it was light, very fast, with a lot of backbone. I thought the rod I felt was an 8-17lb. medium heavy, but it was actually an 8-12, it was that fast with plenty of backbone. When you bent the top half of the blank against the ceiling, you could tell that it was a true medium action as opposed to medium heavy. A standard hatchery steelhead will bend this rod plenty. I'd love to use one on a river, but they weren't handing out any demos just yet; the thing is pricey! Good Luck.

I got to agree on the 1324, one of the best rods I have ever owned, almost always with me on any trip. I used to have a Kunnan a long time ago that I liked as much...... ahhhhh.. memories!
