It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Jerry,
My buddy was smoking the silvers at the mouth of the Satsop earlier this week, but I look for this rain to raise the river quickly and get the fish on their way up. Don't fish it if the water's still on the way up, but once it levels out, you should be able to light up some silvers, and probably some chums, too. I would think by Saturday you'll be in business.........
Fish on........

There are some areas up by Schaefer State Park, or pretty much the cars park on the side of the road and hike into their favorite holes. Chances are that if you find a few cars parked on the shoulder, you aren't far from a good hole. You will find a lot of people on the river on weekends, but with this rain it would be well worth it!

just got back from the Satsop. It is VERY hi and lots of leaves and MUD. it will take a couple days for this one to clear out! A lot of chums moving hard!! saw a few silvers taken up by the park but I got my saspitions they weren't hooked legal. We couldn't get much to bite. I think they had one thing in mind and that was to get up as far as possible before the water cleared. I did lose 1 dark silver buck about 10 lbs on a spinner but that was about it. most of the fish I saw were DARK!! I think the fresh ones will be a few days yet.

If you were on the river below the highway before noon you too could have caught all three salmonoids the river produces, awesome morning bfor the debris made it down, should be hot the next couple of weeks!

My buds and I hit the Satsop about 100 yards from the mouth Sunday about 6; fished till 12. Still high, muddy, with plenty of trash floating. Nothing doing on bottom bouncing however entertaining watching the opposite bank caving in. Before leaving started tossing a blue fox into a deep eddy. Had several hits before landing a 17 pound king hen that wasn't really too dark.Kept her out of the middle where I would have lost her for sure. Will be going back next weekend. tight lines, all...Tom the SalmonMan.

I normally fish from my boat so I go up the Brady side to launch. the road just makes a loop so It doesn't really matter what side. I think you can get to the river in more spots if you know where to go from the Satsop exit side. The thing to remember is that most of the spots are priv. property and from what I have seen they are willing to let you fish just ask to make sure. I hope to float it this weekend but if it goes out agian might go to the Cowlitz. I hear it's starting to pick up and now they braught the water up a little bit

There are many good spots along this river. Last weekend we took Keys Rd, parking adjacent to the boat ramp at the bridge over the Chahalis, walking in to the area of the Satsop mouth. Have always had good luck in this area. Will probably head back to the same area on Saturday.
