i was reading the message posted about the shimano curados. i own a curado and love it. i used to use quantum 1310's which are gear grinders, but good reals. the major problem i keep hearing about the curado is the thumb spool realease. i have had my curado 3-4 years and had problems hitting the thumb spool release (my reel is left handed) when i set the hook on a fish. the spool release extends all the way across the spool, but the piece of metal it is screwed too only extends about half way. i took the plastic thumb spool release off and cut it, with a hacksaw, to the same length as the metal piece it is screwed too. i cleaned up the hacksaw cut with a fine grit sand paper . since i modified the spool release i have no had problems hitting the spool release while setting the hook. just thought i would past this on to fellow curado owners
