Life is good and my ship just came in...well not yet, my fishing buddy has decided to buy a new jet sled...the only thing better then your own sled is a buddy with a sled!. We would like to know what are some of the better options and necessities needed. Looking for ideas right now, like a heater, fish cleaning tray etc. Thanks for your help.

Best accessory for a sled in my eyes ... an INBOARD 10,000 pound anchor ....

Seriously ... better check CG regs on the heater ... I heard rumor of no-no to propane heaters on motorized boats no ... don't know how much truth is to that one ...

Might call 800-939-WILD and talk to Mike at Wild Hair Boats ... they do all sorts of custom stuff on the sleds and I know they have become very popular on many of the Oregon fisheries ...

Have fun ... but please don't bring it out west!

Bob I agree.
We need to get the wdfg to make a law so we don't end up with them here. They are starting to show up. Any ideas how to get this one through?

My new sled came with airride seats which are very nice on the big water of "sled friendly" waters. Heater/defroster and wipers are a must for early morning launches. I went out and purchased a large handheld spotlight for early and late launch and trailering, would like a built in better but the portable is more versatile. I have a 350 chev and a kodiak pump, which is overkill for most rivers but lots of power is a personal comfort zone. DRIVE the final four choices BEFORE any purchase!!!! they all handle differently. Full top, sides and a drop is nice for keeping what heat you can make around you. I also have pressurized water (hose) in the fishbox which makes cleanup of boat and keepers easier, Fourth week with boat and have released all so far, but the floor is clean. Like houses, you never have enough storage. I also stayed away from carpet for cleanliness reasons. Have the anchor system installed by the builder, it will be a cleaner install and you wont have to do it. I prefer a closed cooling system but not an issue if you go with an outboard. A shameless plug for EAGLE POWERBOATS (changing to Boulton) I shopped sleds for over 6 weeks and this builder offered most bang for the buck.
20 ft. 350/kodiak 3 stage pump nearly all bells and whistles, tandem, braked trailer, 9.9 honda 4 stroke, towing cover, top, whole nine yards 28k FOB medford. He will also split out the bill so you only pay sales tax on the HULL and TRAILER. Several k in savings!!

Bob-
I will take 5 courteous sled owners over a jerk anytime, but your comment is VERY understandable as most jerks seem to have boats without oars. I reccommended your service today based only on the comments here, but am confident that if you have time for the extra business they will be quite satisfied!!

I purchased an 18 foot Weldcraft this spring and am very pleased with it. The 225hp Vortec V6 mated to the American Turbine SD309 gives the boat plenty of power with good fuel economy.

Randy,
Not sure what you are looking for in a sled but I recently bought a new one and shopped for months. I have owned many and prefer an open boat with outboard...if that is you choice then look at Thor-Built boats out of Chehalis...best handling boat I have ever owned. Email me if you want more info.
