Help!
I just bought a drift boat and my second time out pulling k15 kwik fish I lost three fish in a row. I know I must be doing something wrong. I converted my kwikfish from a treble to a single 2/0 lazersharpe swash hook. Should I conect the hook directly to the plug or use a split ring, or swivle connecter. I've seen some people use something like dog tag chain to get the hook back away from the plug. What is the best way to connect a swash hook to any of the plugs.
Thanks

I am assuming that you are fishing for salmon w/k15's. If you are fishing in a kill fishery I would stick w/the trebles but I change the factory trebles to 2/0 on 15's #384 Eagle Claws. They are soft but I would rather replace the hook than loose the fish.If you are in release area use 3/0 Gamakatsu siwash. I turn the back screw eye 1/4 turn and put single hook on the split ring w/point pointing up. I also put on a #7 barrel swivel on the front hook w/3/0 siwash. I would never use a siwash unless the regulations make you.
Another thing is to really wait when a fish is taking and load the rod then hitum' a good one.

Whether you are using trebles or siwash the number one key to catching fish with kwikfish is to wwwaaaiiiitttt!!!! When the rod goes down you must wait, almost until the rod hits the water. When the fish first grabs a kwikfish it usually just slides back with the plug and if you hit it too soon they will just spit it right out. You must wait until the fish turns with the plug and if you do this successfully you will hook most of your fish right in the corner of the mouth (just where you want it!). Also, if you are using siwash try using a very small bead chain to attach the siwash hooks with. I have found that once hookups are made these bead chains allow the fish to spin all the way around (especially silvers) without ripping the hooks out! Let us know how the next trip goes and remember none of us knows more than all of us.

Welcome to the wonderful world of pulling kwikfish ... you do it wrong, and you pay the price ... you do it right, and you still pay a third of the time. My worst day with kwikies ... 1 for 19 ... you pull too soon, and it happens ... still not as frustrating as a 3 for 33 (maybe it was 37, Kent, Bear??) day I had running egg/diver combos in AK last summer

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Hot choco,

The guys above have it pretty well covered. One more thing, though. I'd say a 2/0 siwash on a K-15 is a tad on the small side. I use 2/0's on the K-14's, but use 3/0's on the 15's and 4/0's on the K-16's.

Set the hook too quick, and you'll be lucky to land the fish. You've got to wait until the rod almost hits water if it's in the rod holder, or if you're casting Kwikkies once you get a bite swing the rod downstream, and many times the fish will then turn with the plug in its mouth. Then, hit it HARD.

Fish on...........

Great advice, just doubling on the bead chain and the 1/4 turn to get the hook pointing up...and don't forget lazer sharp hooks absolutely critical.
