Where on the internet can I find the number of Steelhead plants in each river in WA in 1996... that would be the fish coming back this year right?

if you folks down south are set up like BC then the numbers you would possibly rather have would be the swim counts for this year. fisheries and oceans or the ministry of environment bc cataloge our streams by doing swim counts several times a year on each stream. the numbers that you get are last years winter-fish and this years summer-fish. don't know how your systems are counted down there but shouldn't someone in government do stock assessments, either them or highered private contractors. these numbers should be available upon public request.

This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but there was an article in the seattle times that gave a bit of a run down on steelhead smolt plants. It's at www.seattletimes.com click on "sports" on the left side, then "outdoors", scroll down to "Steelhead anglers should get a boost".

It wouldn't matter... They would just come up with fake #'s... It's politics, and BS... If there is any difference...

Andy,

I stopped in at the monte WDFW office last week and they didn't have the most recent plants ready to distribute yet (typical!).

I believe we want the 97' or 98' plants for the 99'-2000 winter/ summer season.

All the office had was moldy 96' plants that are totally out of date.

For Columbia River tribs you can get the info at DART: http://www.cqs.washington.edu/dart/

I don't know who keeps records for the rest of the state.
