You're killin me.. Excitable.....carrying something is not the same thing, even if you want it to be. If O pulled the phoned down for the moment it took to salute, there would not have been an issue......but you knew that, right? All I did was check snopes to see if the photo was real and then directed all interested to go there if they were interested....nothing more. The fact that you think that I'm sneaky says more about you than me.  Y'all can quit making excuses for the "King". He has no clothes and by the time this term is over, if there is anything left, you may just realize what a buffoon we are enduring.

I should respect this guy. This does not set well with me......at all. He probably doesn't have anything important to do, like say be our Commander in Chief, or run the country or anything mundane like that! As a decorated, disabled veteran I understand that he has one of most important jobs on the planet and is under constant stress from all corners of earth. Jesus what an asshole you are! Fishy

I think he's got the sun in his eyes  I have no problem with the POTUS saluting the soldiers back, and I have no problem with the POTUS using his cell phone while he does. While this is a 100% non-issue that you have to have your head ten feet up your ass to get worked up about, I'll at least give Slappy credit that he checked Snopes before re-posting his right wing email chain blather to check if the pic was legit. Now all he needs is a website that will tell him he will look stupid for posting something, even if it's legit...though I suspect that between that mythical website and Snopes we'd pretty much never hear from Slappy any more if he used them. What's stupid is the habit Reagan began with civilian presidents saluting military officers. The Prez is Commander in Chief, but he's a civilian. Civilians don't salute.
A salute is a non-verbal show of respect and I don't have a problem with a president returning one. Reagan began doing it because he knew, as an ex-officer in the military, a soldier is supposed to hold a salute until it was returned or the one being saluted was no longer in front of him. It wasn't only a show of respect for him, it was a courtesy the soldiers appreciated. He encouraged Bush Sr. and other presidents to continue that tradition. That being said, who or what is FDR saluting in this pic from Ft.Lewis?  Forgot to add another point about saluting. A Medal of Honor recipient is entitled to a salute (the medal is) from any soldier regardless of rank. A private receives a salute from a general if he's wearing one. Something I wondered is why a president doesn't salute that medal when he's presenting it. As most medals are presented after they are presented the presenter customarily salutes those presented. It is what I have always witnessed. Fishy
