I am considering buying a 9'6" GL3 over the internet. I am not sure of the model #. The rod is rated 10-30lb mono and listed as med. heavy. I am looking for a rod that would perform well in moderate to high water conditions and to be used primarily for silvers and chums. Any thoughts or editorials would be greatly appreciated.

I would recomend that you call a company called cabelas. You can get a 9ft IM7 rod rated for 10-20Ib pound test for only 80 bucks! You can visit there website at www.cabelas.com

I've bought two Loomis rods from TH Custom Rods (contact made through this bulletin board)this year. I am a happy customer. The rods fish as well as my other Loomis store-boughts, have identical guides, wraps, handles, finishes, etc and come with the same Loomis guarantee (on the blank -- not the entire rod). The prices are usually about 25% less than list, and if Travis doesn't have the blank in stock he can order it for you. I view it as buying four Loomis's (eventually, I hope!)for the price of three.

Contact Travis at THoward@lincoln.coquille.k12.or.us

[Cabela's rods are certainly value-for-money and I fish several, but they're not Loomis quality.]

#10-30 sounds a little heavy to me???

I would look at the GL3 HSR 1021C 10-20 (8'6) it's prety stiff. I haven't fond anything it can't handle.
