Is anything happening on the Cowlitz or North Fork of the Lewis yet? It looks like the Cowlitz is still running very high, but the Lewis seems to be dropping back to normal levels.

The Cowlitz is running at 15,200 CFS right now. The normal flow for this time of year is a little over 9,000 CFS. I'd also like to take my sled up there, but I'm waiting for it to drop a bit more (that is, unless I hear the fishing has finally taken off). I'll probably avoid the Blue Creek area, though, I'm not much into combat fishing.

To get to Blue Creek, take the Highway 12 exit from I-5 East about 7 miles, then right on Tucker Road and follow the road signs to the "Cowlitz Trout Hatchery". You're going to head south about 3 miles, then East onto Spencer Road, and then the hatchery. It's been a while since I've been there, but these directions should get you there. Good luck!

Fished the cow on friday a.m. and it was pretty rough. The river is really high and the visibility is fair to poor. Saw two fish landed over the course of three hours (none in my boat). The bankies were doing pretty well at the mouth of blue creek but the slot is only 15 feet wide with about 30 anglers per 100 ft of bank. I would recommend not going now w/o someone in the boat that knows the river. The water is dirty enough that you might end up pushing down stream from the creek. If you go upstream, you will have three tight spots that are fairly easy to pick out. I can't imagine it would be any better than rivers up near your home yet.
