STEVENSON, Wash. (AP) - The search continues Tuesday for a Vancouver woman who hasn't been seen since Sunday when she left on a spiritual quest in a southwest Washington forest wearing no clothes.

The Skamania County sheriff's office says searchers with dogs searched until dark Monday in the Canyon Creek area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The area is steep with heavy timber and brush.

The sheriff's office says 19-year-old Maureen Kelly of Vancouver was reported overdue by a friend early Monday when she failed to return to the Canyon Creek Campground.

Kelly left about 5 p.m. Sunday wearing only a fanny pack with a compass and a knife.

Search operations have been set up at the Forest Service Chelatchie Prairie facility in Amboy.

When I heard that report on the radio, I thought she's gonna' have a zillion mosquito bites by now, bears and mountain beavers notwithstanding.

Sasquatch...or...squawsnatch...or...whatever that hairy thing is ???

Leave it to Salmo to have "mosquito bites" be the first thing that enters his mind when a naked woman in the woods is discussed.

Hey, we nature lovers love the notion of getting naked with nature, but know that it doesn't quite work out in reality the way it does in our imaginations or in the movies. Remember the love scene in the movie From Here to Eternity? First thing I did when I went to Hawaii is check out the beach. Ain't no way anybody's getting naked on that beach without first spraying pesticide on the sand first. It's crawling with bugs that bite and sting!

When they find that girl, I bet they also find that her spirit has been totally "quested."
