I was told that you can't really drift the Puyallup anymore because they have closed the takeout area across from Anton's recently. Does anyone know of another takeout in Sumner or is the gravel bar across from Anton's still accessable?

Thanks for any info.

I used to take out behind the fred meyer by the meridian bridge. But that was a few years back. The've really screwed it up for the boat fishermen. The bank fishermen are loving it. If you find another takeout let me know. Mac

You can take out at the BMX park on Riverside drive in Sumner. It can be a little rough pulling out at times during high water.

Another good take out is down by the smoke shop. On the other side of the river.

I think the bmx track is the best put in. There is alot of good water down to Anton's.
If you are feeling real brave you can put in above the mouth of the carbon, on the p.u. above the highway bridge. It is posted and a very rough lanch. Tightlines.

The bridge on the little puyallup going to Orting used to have a old launch on it. You can see the pavment going along the side of the bridge. They've put rip rap on it but you can slide your boat along the carpet someone put on it and down the grass hill to the little puyallup. Did it this fall for kings so its doable and didn't see any postings. Tight lines

Thanks to all for the info. I floated the river yesterday - actually more like blown down it as the wind was pretty nasty. That didn't seem to stop may people though. We saw at least 6 other boats and 35 bankers. Not one fish between any of us. I put in just above the bridge on the little Puyallup which to say the least is "rough". Didn't see any sign of carpet so that must have been flushed with the last flood. Took out across from Anton's which is still open as Rivernut mentioned.
